William Sleator, the prolific and incisive YA fantasy, science fiction and horror novelist novelist passed away last week (August 3, 2011).Sleator was able to combine his many passions such as science and music, and to convey very succinctly and directly in his stories how it felt for his protagonists to to be outsiders in their family, school and the larger world.
