Martin Luther King Jr 1956 comic book

Recently in a  Booklist webinar, I Have a Dream”: An Anniversary Celebration, that highlighted  the graphic novel, March, Book 1 by John Lewis,   One of the co-authors, Andrew Aydin, an aide to John Lewis, recounted the reaction when he told his colleagues that he hoped to do a graphic novel about John Lewis and the 1963 March on Washington.

His statement was greeted by laughter by all except for Congressman Lewis. Congressman  Lewis reminded them that one of the greatest instructional and communication outreach created for the Civil Rights Movement was a 1956 comic book entitled Martin Luther King and the Montgomery Story. This comic has since been translated in many languages and used throughout the world for civil rights and nonviolence instruction.
